The name “Katreen” comes from the fusion of the founder’s name and the word “spleen,” a term from the Romantic tradition made famous by Charles Baudelaire, symbolizing a deep and modern existential melancholy.

Katrin Portincasa, an Italian-French designer graduated in Fashion Design and Haute Couture, began her journey in Rome working in menswear design, while also cultivating a passion for historical costume creation. She later moved into womenswear and relocated to Tuscany, where she fulfilled her dream of creating a slow fashion line that fully embodies her values and vision.
